Episode 91: Cocaine and Plastic Baby!

Happy Winter Season of Non-Denominational Holiday Celebration to all of you who celebrate non-denominationaly! Happy Tuesday to those of you who don't! It's time for our final debate of the year and our annual shitty peripheral gift exchange! For those who joined our DT! Family in 2021, every year we find the wildest add-ons in vidja game history to wrap up and force on our friends in the name of capitalism.

Grab a seat in the celebration circle and take in the infrared madness as Andrew introduces us to Nintendo's theremin. Kyle brought our new favorite television consumption device to the party this year and none of us can get enough. Also, Todd is here to add some nerd flair to your embroidered ugly sweaters.

FLAVOR TEXT: Halo

Buckle yourself in for the Great Journey as we talk about Spartan IIs, Forerunners, Sticky Grenades, the Flood, Prometheans, SPNKRS, a brief stint experimenting with dual wielding mechanics, and punching the Prophet of Regret in his stupid alien face. That's right, today we're doing our deep dive into the Halo series in our latest FLAVOR TEXT.

With Halo: Infinite just released, it's time to brush up on 7 games worth of deep, intergalactic space lore following the origins of life in the Halo universe, the creation of Spartan IIs, details of what the Halos actually are (and are not!) and ending with some guesses as to the plot of Halo: Infinite. Spoiler: Todd was only partially correct.

Episode 90: Giovanni's Persian is a Thanos Simp

Did you hear? Did you hear? A new Pokemon game came out! Actually, it's not a new Pokemon game, it's an old Pokemon game. But they remade it! So it's new! Kinda. Hey, is the Pokemon formula getting a little tired? Is it time to run Pokemon through the DT!HQ machine to make it better? Is it time to make a comic book character a Pokemon Gym Leader? Probably not. But we did it anyway.

Matt mostly talks about Netflix and ghosts, but what else is new? Todd is definitely the only one talking about a genocidal villain this week. Sorry, we couldn't stop him. Also, Kyle knows way too much about Pokemon, so this is really his fight to lose.

Episode 89: Pumpin' Puddin' is the Reason for the Season

It's that weird time between October 31st and December 1st where America attempts to both celebrate our history and ignore the plights of colonialism. So, here is our attempt to both capture the family-friendly traditions of November and to stave off the capitalist title wave that is Christmas. The Debaters are here to put their spin on the most American of holiday traditions, the Turkey Bowl.

Todd is out to remind us of the Youtube games of yore. Matt is really pushing the limits of our grandparent's love. Meanwhile, Andrew is down another Final Fantasy hole and his chances are not looking good. Realistically, we're all just here to reminisce about being beaten up by our older cousin.

FLAVOR TEXT: Avatar: The Last Airbender

Naruto. One Piece. Dragonball. My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace when The Big Three kept shounen anime fans together in harmony. But all of that changed when Nickelodeon attacked.

Avatar: The Last Airbender mastered all the elements: A collection of juvenile misfits forming a found-family, a journey of growth and self-discovery across the globe, and a mischievous but lovable boy saving the world with the power of friendship and cool ninja powers. AND, this was all being created by a Western studio. Only Avatar: The Last Airbender could save the world from the ruthless otaku claiming Western animation was not real anime. But when the world needed Avatar: The Last Airbender the most, it vanished.

Thirteen years have passed, and the boys at Debate This! have re-discovered Avatar: The Last Airbender. And although the world and its characters are great, it still has a lot to learn before it's ready to save a sub-standard premium streaming service. But we believe Avatar: The Last Airbender can save the world.

Episode 88: The F-Train Don't Stop at Dinosaur Jail

The Spooktacular Express may have come and gone for the year, but we've found another train to talk about. This week, the F-Train is hitting the station to hear our pitches for a new Disney Ploose series. Turns out the Marvel Execs forgot to plan anything for the launch of Phase 5 and they need us to write their next smash hit.

Are Dazzler and Jubilee really different people? Kyle will answer your question while Andrew reminds us of the importance of blue body paint. Also, Matt talks about dinosaurs under the Museum of Natural History. Hey, you guys remember We're Back? Oh, and Kevin Feige is here with us this week.

Episode 87: John Batman Eats His Froot Loops Whole

It's week three of our Spooktacular Journey on the Spooktacular Express and this week we're pulling in to ComicTown, USA. This weeks Halloween-centric episode has us morphing famous comic arcs into survival horror games. Do any of the debaters know enough about comics to turn them into games? If they do, have they ever played a survival horror game? Only time will tell.

FLAVOR TEXT: Ys

Check out the image gallery for the episode here: https://imgur.com/a/oh1zlgk

There's a curiousity in all of us. Sometimes that curiousity can spark us to learn a new skill, dive deep into a hobby, or maybe try a new food. And then other times that curiousity can lead us sailing a boat straight into a magical storm wall encircling an island cursed with a demonic plague. Meet Adol Christin, the subject of the Ys series, probably the greatest JRPG series you've never heard of that has been quietly pumping out games since 1987. Adol's wanderlust and penchant for surviving ship explosions leads him to far-off lands, often dealing with some inexplicable ancient magic and/or hidden civilization populated with sentient dinosaurs. Today, we're breaking down every single Ys game to date, ending with the ninth entry that came out earlier this year. Special thanks to "Master Specter" for commissioning today's episode!
