Episode 141: Do You Think The Danger Room Is Mad At Me?

Hoo boy those new X-Men ['97] sure are competent superheroes and also universally sexy. Pretty much the opposite of that are the 3 of us dweebs standing in the shadows who all somehow also made the cut and got accepted into Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters despite having superpowers or eshewing raw bisexual energy.

Matt shows his super-expertise with common household appliances, Andrew illustrates his super-ability to read a room, and Todd slip-slides around via his super-undiagnosed hyperhidrosis.

Episode 140: Rage Bait 64 (ft. John Warren)

It's Christmas of 1996 and you've just unwrapped the hottest new home gaming console, the Nintendo 64. You're about to be immersed into a game more realistic than your brain can even fathom. Except it's not 1996, it's 2024 and games look more like real life than real life does. Wouldn't it be a wild thought experiment to adapt a game made in 2024 to 1996's N64? Wouldn't it?

Fair warning, if you've played a particular game series, Andrew is going to make you furious. Kyle is here to make one 25th of a game. Todd is going to talk a lot about horses. Because none of those things sounded great, we also invited former Fanbyte Head of Media and current cohost of If You’re Driving Close Your Eyes and cofounder of Glydr, John Warren!

FLAVOR TEXT: Power Rangers

Does it smell like Teen Spirit in here or is that just me? While we're not talking about Nirvana today, we are talking about one of the other biggest figures of the 90s, Power Rangers. It's hard to believe it's been 30 years since we were first introduced to the color-coded teenagers with attitude. Now with 30 seasons and 4 feature length films under their belt, we're going to look under the spandex as to how exactly Haim Saban propped up this franchise for three decades.

Not only does this podcast include 30 years of Power Rangers history, it also includes a bonus 15 years of Japanese Entertainment history! What more could you ask for from a milenial podcast like ours?

Episode 139: By the Power of Go Fast

How much do you know about the phrase "public domain?" Follow up question, how much do you want to know about the phrase "public domain?" Today we're doing something just plain silly. Today we're making Sonic the Hedgehog games out of public domain novels. Believe it or not, they've already made two of them.

Todd's idea led to a lot less puns than it could have. Kyle's idea revolves around everyone's favorite public domain detective. Matt's idea has a villain that really pushes the limits of stupidity.

Episode 138: With Apologies to Baldur's Gate 3 (ft. Jennasis)

I'm just going to say this up front: 138 = 69 x 2. With that out in the open, it should be no surprise to you that today's episode is another "What game would make the best dating sim" episode. If you don't want to hear the DT! hosts discuss BDSM, maybe skip this one. (Looking at you, Matt's Mom.)

Kyle is doing his best to reinvent the most lackluster release of 2024 so far. Matt is pushing the boundaries of what you can do with a typo. Todd came to the party with more Olympic facts than your body has room for. By the way, we have a guest this week and Jennasis is here to make you think about Ed Sheeran.

Recommended reading: Special thanks to Jennasis for joining us on Debate This! today! You should check out Jennasis's stuff! She's one half of two different podcasts. One is called Two Girls, One Ship and it breaks down romance in video games. The other is the Cyberpunk Lorecast and I don't feel like I need to explain to you what that is.

FLAVOR TEXT: Metal Gear Solid

Kept you waiting, huh? It's been nearly four years since we first talked about Vulcan Raven and his magical spirit ravens, and so we're finally bringing you the full context and delivering on what may be one of the most complicated and insane video game stories of all time...Metal Gear Solid!

Our deep dive into the history and lore of this PS1 classic will leave you wondering if love can, in fact, bloom on the battlefield. Maybe even after it's over, you'll leave a comment saying...you're pretty good. La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo. OK, that's enough this game is silly.

Episode 137: Dude, What's My Phase?

Did you know there's only one official Marvel Cinematic Universe slated for a 2024 release? That number jumps to three if you include the Sony Venom-Verse movies, but the once mighty MCU is down to a single cinematic release this year. Whether you've kept up with Phases 4 and 5 or not, you're probably aware that Marvel Studios seems to lack direction. Somewhere between a glut of Disney+ content and the conviction of their planned francise villain, Kevin Feigie et al. seem to have lost their way. That's why the Marvel Team has turned to us here at DT!HQ to help determine: What should be the new direction for the MCU?

Todd is going to tell you about the Dark Avengers and you're going to like it. Kyle is going to tell you about House of M and you're going to like it. Andrew's going to tell you about Separation Anxiety and you're going to hate it.

FLAVOR TEXT: Silicon Valley

Ten years ago, purveyor of the human condition and scion of the future Mike Judge created another hit series as a follow up to the likes of Office Space, Idiocracy, and King of the Hill. This series would go on to shine a now-familiar light on the silliness and cartoonishly villainous behavior of the wacky tech moguls of the San Francisco Bay Area. Silicon Valley made careers out of Kumail Nanjiani, Thomas Middleditch, and Jimmy O. Yang, and helped put T.J. Miller's career in the grave. Join us this month as we break down all 6 seasons of this iconic HBO series.

Episode 136: Dice Wars: Revenge of the Six

It's season premier episode time nerds! And, as this is the premier of Season 7, we've decided to leave everything related to the number 6 in the past. That might not seem like much, but it means that we're throwing away all the 6-sided dice in the world. You read that correctly, all the d6's are going away forever and we here at DT!HQ are in charge of replacing them. Join us as we kick off DT! Season 7 and decide, "Which dice is the best dice?"

Kyle makes a shockingly weak pitch for the d10. Todd makes a shockingly strong pitch for the d4. Matt makes a shocking pitch. Who will stand victorious amongst the battlefields of the Dice Wars?
