FLAVOR TEXT: Flavor Text Wrap Up (Pt 2)

Early last year, we took stock of all the FLAVOR TEXT episodes we had recorded by that time and sorted them all in a tier list, which resulted in The Witcher being our most favorite and Kingdom Hearts our least. Now with 20+ more under our belt, we're doing that all over again by both ranking this new batch separately and then together with the first batch.

The second batch of FTs ranked: https://imgur.com/a/ULWskUE

All FTs up-to-date ranked: https://imgur.com/a/1DuNCIt

If you'd like to commission your own FLAVOR TEXT and see your chosen media hopefully beat out Amory Wars, check out our Patron page at patreon.com/debatethiscast.

Properties we talked about this week: Just, like, a whole bunch of stuff.

Episode 135: Set Phasers to Pizza

Happy Winter Season of Non-Denominational Holiday Celebration™ to all of you who celebrate non-denominationaly! Happy Tuesday™ to those of you who don't! It's time for our final debate of the year and our annual shitty peripheral gift exchange! Unfortunately, DT!HQ is a little short on budget this year, so we decided to exchange gifts with the local pawn shop as opposed to each other. So today we've gathered together to decide on the best video game peripheral to sell to a pawn shop?

Matt brought a plank of wood. Andrew brought a slice of Pizza. Todd brought an oldie that is most certainly also a goodie.

FLAVOR TEXT: Killing God With The Power Of Friendship

We make the joke all the time that the most common trope of any anime, JRPG, or many other Japanese-created media is to ultimately kill God with the Power of FriendshipTM. But, why is that? Thanks to #buttthwompnation member "@Sharkbait" we present to you a liberal college-level course that answers that question with 2,000+ years of real-world Japanese history!

Episode 134: Grumpy Matt's Worst Christmas Ever

The weather outside is getting frightful, but the fire is getting oh so delightful...Or that's how these show notes would have started if we actually recorded a holiday episode. Instead, we recorded an episode about Made-For-TV-Movies and what it would be like if we made those into video games. Just to be clear, no one picked the Made-For-TV-Movie you wanted them to. Nope, not even that one.

Kyle is created the worst (best?) ever modern farming sim. Andrew wrote a script. Todd's main character has a lot of names and that's really all there is to remember about his answer.

FLAVOR TEXT: Mythic Quest

Welcome, brave adventurers, to Mythic Quest! Here you will find office shenanigans, disregarded player feedback, and the most infuriating way to pronounce "Ian" you can think of. Join us today as we take a deep dive into the Apple+ show Mythic Quest: Ravens Banquet, a brainchild of Charlie Day, Megan Ganz, and Rob McElhenney. If you love Silicon Valley, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and dunking on failed videogame industry tropes, then we have a show (and FLAVORTEXT) for you!

Thanks to friend of the show, Deb, for allowing us the opportunity to talk about this very fun show and for making Matt inject multiples seasons of an Apple+ show into is life over the course of a long weekend. And no, Season 4 hasn't been announced yet.

If you'd like to commission our next FLAVOR TEXT, you can do that right now! Head over to patreon.com/debatethiscast to find out how.

Episode 133: Solve for XP

Two and a half years ago, we created a bit in which Todd, Kyle and Matt act as Andrew's collective dads in a Final Fantasy world. Then, a year and a half ago, we revisited this concept a second time. WELL, everyone knows you can't have a trilogy without a third entry. So today we welcome back Sad Dad, Bad Dad and Rad Dad for another Final Fantasy episode! This time we're asking the age old questions, which Final Fantasy location would be the best place to retire?

Matt introduces the family to his entrepreneurial dreams. Todd discusses the dad-tastic urge to visit historical battlefields. Kyle makes the required Heavensward joke.

Hey you! Are you listening to this podcast on Spotify? Our analytics say it's likely that you are and we're definitely not watching from inside your home... Well if you haven't heard, Spotify is now allowing listeners to rate podcasts! If you have a spare second, consider leaving us a 5-star rating on this new validation platform. Or don't. Episode 132: An Exercise In Practicing Restraint

You know what? It's been a minute since the last time we attempted to save the DC Cinematic Universe. That said, it's only been about three weeks since the last time we "made a series like Disney Plus's Loki." Well, for some reason, we've decided to recapture both of the aforementioned magics and save the DC Cinematic Universe with a series like Disney Plus's Loki! This week we're asking the simple question, "Which DC Villain should lead their own limited run series that isn't Peacemaker or Harley Quinn?"

Andrew threw all of his creativity out the window for this episode and that's all we'll say about that. Matt speaks to the primal urge of man that is de-handling panhandles. We also finally gave Kyle the email log in so he can see the show notes!

DCOMstructed: Halloweentown

A very happy Spooky Day to all who celebrate. For this momentous annual occasion, we present to you a preview of our new series, DCOMstructed, a monthly breakdown and discussion of Disney Channel Original Movies, or DCOMs. As is the season, our choice for this here holiday is none other than Certified BangerTM Halloweentown!

EDITOR'S NOTE: During the commercial break, we listened to an old promo for A Bug's Life as well as a few other Disney Channel liners of that time. Since famously-litigious Disney Corp included the whole-ass track to Baba O'Reily in that promo, we weren't able to include it on the free feed. If you like what you hear and want more of DCOMstructed (or you just want that Bug's Life promo), consider checking out our Patreon at patreon.com/debatethiscast! For $5 a month, you'll get access to the Premium feed, which right now includes our pilot episode we did about Phantom of the Megaplex as well as the entire backlog of our D&D real-play show The Office Drones.
