Episode 35: The Ballad of Sad Brent

Before Guitar Hero taught the world about Dragonforce, before Dance Dance Revolution brought us Darude, there was only one game series defined by its licensed music. And that series is Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Everyone has fond memories of grinding rails and doing siiick reverse indy nosebones skating to Goldfinger’s Superman. Or how about kickflipping a 520 ollie and wallplanting while Powerman 5000 blares in the background? A 360 shove it to a benihana and Primus is playing? Are these even words? What the hell were we all thinking back then?

Episode 34: Oops! All Holy Wars

We’ve talked at length about many of the horrors implicated by the crazy-pants world of Pokémon. But one of the most horrifying implications is the idea that a 10-year-old child could hold the power to destroy the fabric of time and space itself literally in their pocket. These are literal gods who should be worshipped, not thrown in a box waiting to be taught Cut. So this week, our team of seasoned Poké-Theologists are presenting their bids for our new Pokémon God who isn’t Arceus...because Arceus is literally the Pokémon Christian God.

DLC EPISODE: The Antagonist Altercation (ft. David Flamm)

What’s up #bazinganation?! Your favorite The Big Bang Theory debate-themed podcast is back for what might be the last time! We recorded this episode days before the TBBT finale, so before we knew what actually happened we speculated on how Sheldon would finally bite the bullet. Will he be murdered for his insensitivity or just pulled back into the Gates of Hell as part of the pact he made with the demon long ago?

Thanks to David Flamm and the rest of our friends at Left Trigger Right Trigger for letting us be a part of the finale of their improvisational science-fiction audio drama, Fullmetal Bazinga. Every episode of this beautiful experiment is available now wherever you download podcasts.

SIDEBAR: Jon Favreau Is My Stepdad

**SPOILER WARNING FOR SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME**

Todd and Andrew saw Spider-Man: Far From Home and oh my God now it’s time to geek out over it. Does Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio top Keaton’s Vulture? What is the future of the MCU now that the Avengers are gone? Could J.K. Simmons dethrone Rami Malek as our new God-King? It’s very possible all of these questions have answers. It’s also very possible we just spent 35 minutes talking about the now-very-real ship of Happy & Aunt May.

Episode 33: Make America Gotta Go Fast...Again

Oh Sonic...our very fast boy with a very complicated past. He’s been a street fighter, an Olympic athlete, a zero gravity surfboard racer, and even a knight facing off against King Arthur. We decided to give everyone’s favorite blue hedgehog yet another second chance by fixing some of Sonic’s more pained gimmicks. Our crack team of armchair-quarterbacking game designers are proposing massive overhauls to Sonic and The Secret Rings, the Werehog, and the edgy ‘dark’ version of Sonic whose power is gun-having.

FLAVOR TEXT: Magic: The Gathering (Pt. 2)

On Part 2 of our journey through the lore of Magic: The Gathering, we cover everything after The Great Mending up to where the story stands today. Our main focus is the Gatewatch, the unlikely alliance of demi-gods that consists of an All-American quarterback, a lovestruck wizard, a goth necromancer, and one very swole cat.

The art behind Magic is still really tight! Here’s this episode’s rad image album.

Episode 31: The Waaahmazing Whimsy of Wario and Waluigi

From Dinosaur Blade Runner to CG hedgehogs with real human teeth, we here at Debate This! unequivocally love when video games get adapted to other things. So this week, we’re asking what video game could be the next great cinematic masterpiece. Will it be the anime-esque adventures of Monster Hunter, the hilariously unoriginal space-pirate-ninja drama from Blood Wake, or the very smelly misadventures of Nintendo’s dirty boys Wario and Waluigi?

Debate This! is going on the road...kind of! Come see us at CORGS-Con on Saturday, June 1, at the Makoy Center in Hilliard, OH. We’ll be hanging out and giving away free merch!

Episode 30: Two Baldwins Deep (ft. Giovanni Colantonio)

The 1993 film Super Mario Bros is notorious for 1) being very bad, and 2) inadvertently creating a sub-genre of crappy movie adaptations of popular video games. So this week, we’re finally going to right this wrong and re-shoot the Mario Bros movie the right way. Problem is, we don’t actually create new concepts, we just steal from the likes of Wes Anderson, Martin Scorsese, and...the dudes from Super Troopers. Thank God we brought in guest expert Giovanni Colantonio to help pen this masterpiece.

You can listen to more of Giovanni talking about video games on Left Trigger Right Trigger, or check out Fullmetal Bazinga, an improvised science-fiction audio drama based on the final season of the Big Bang Theory!
