Episode 150: And MissingNo. Was His Nameo

Episode 150!! Can you believe it?? We sure can't!! To celebrate this momentus occasion, we present an episode focused on the only significant use of the number 150, Pokemon. Longtime listeners may be familiar with our previous attempts to create themed Pokemon gyms and that's ok because this time is different. This time, we're asking "What Disney Channel Original Movie character would make the best Pokemon Gym Leader?"

Kyle's suggestion will ring a bell to those keeping up with our Hot Girl of the 21st Century Summer on Patreon. Todd's talking about a movie he's definitely watched before. Matt makes questionable statements about sushi.

Episode 149: The Sweet Release of Physical Violence (ft. Tom Zalatnai)

Did you know, at the time of this episode's release, we're about half way through the 2024 Esports World Cup? Did you know that Super Smash Bros Ultimate won't be included in the 2024 Esports World Cup? Did you know that you didn't need to know either of those things to listen to this podcast? Cool. Just making sure. Now that we've taken a long walk down a short pier, here's the question: Who is the best TV personality to add to Super Smash Brothers?

Todd is suggesting a professional wrestler that you can't see. Andrew is suggesting a martial artist that will keal. And Kyle is absent this week so we invited long-time friend of the show Tom Zalatnai who is suggesting a frosted-tip mayor.

FLAVOR TEXT: Guild Wars 2

In 2012 MMO giant NCSoft and developer ArenaNet released Guild Wars 2, a massively-multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG). Among a veritable ocean of same-y WoW clones, Guild Wars 2 was able to stand the test of time, and while others went F2P or outright went down, Guild Wars 2 still boasts a reliable and dedicated player base today.

Shoutout to fellow guildie "Zach" for commissioning this month's exploration into this and other MMORPGs! For more info on how you can commission your own FLAVOR TEXT, visit patreon.com/debatethiscast.

Episode 148: All Summer No Bummer

Happy July everyone! The sun is shining, the tank is clean, and it's officially backyard barbeque season! Now we've hosted a few BBQs at DT!HQ, and every year the guest list seems to expand. This year, we've offered everyone a +1, as long as that +1 goes explicitly to a comic book villain. That leaves us with only one question, "What super villain would make the best cookout guest?"

The "Silly Sixties" are on everyone's mind this week as Andrew introduces us all to the sandiest man. Kyle and his guest are bringing the "chill, rich guy vibes" to the party. Matt and his guest will make sure everyone has a gallon baggie to eat their meat from.

Episode 147: The Ballad of Glizzy Saucedale

Nothing says "return to the office" quite like "BOGO special in the office cafeteria!" With employee productivity on the rise here at DT!HQ, we wanted to say thank you by revamping our company food services. We've posted to LinkedIn and Indeed, searching for a food service veteran to lead this rebrand. That's why today we're asking the question, "What video game character would make the best cafeteria head chef?"

If we told you Matt's whole bit was based on a TikTok, would you believe us? If we told you Andrew's the only one notdoing a voice, would you belive us? If we told you Todd's talking about the most obscure game, would you believe us?

DCOM-structed: Motocrossed

This episode of DCOMstructed was originally released to our Patreon! If you enjoy our takes on childhood movies, join us for Hot Girl of the 21st Century Summer over at patreon.com/debatethiscast!

Two years after the release of Johnny Tsunami, Disney Channel looked inward and said, what if we did this again, but with dirtbikes? Enter Motocrossed, which (SPOILER) turned out to be so much more than the sum of its top parts.

Highlights and discussion points from today's review:

  • This movie walked so She's The Man could run

  • But also it's kinda Shakespeare's Twelfth Night???

  • An "accidental" LGBTQ friendly film

  • Mr Cooper from "Hangin' with Mr Cooper"

  • Boy howdy this movie is unironically really good

Episode 146: Dictionary Starts with D

Hello Valued Employee, we hope this email finds you well! We're writing today to introduce you to our exciting, new, health-forward initiative. That's right, Valued Employee, we here at DT!HQ are putting the Hell back in Healthcare by gamifying your deductible! All you need to do is download a new app, buy a new tracking device, log every calorie you've ever consumed, and help us decide, "What video game character should lead a new corporate healthcare initiative?"

Todd is introducing a new, lovable ring in the shape of old, lovable Kirby. Matt really commits to the bit, but it's not the bit you expect. Kyle comes in hot with school assembly energy, but practices an impressive amount of restraint.

"Boogity, boogity, boogity, let's go racin'!" - Phil Keoghan probably

The reality TV division of DT!HQ has tasked us with another reboot of a popular competition show. This time, we've set our sights on one of the big CBS shows. After two decades of watching midwesterners destroy manual vehicles abroad, audiences are ready for something new. That's why today we're deciding which video game world should be the setting for the next season of The Amazing Race!

Andrew is doing a Donkey Kong thing. Kyle is doing a Pokeon thing. Todd is doing a mispronunciation thing.
